About the show
Once a searing allegory of Hollywood’s blacklist, High Noon is a gripping adaptation with themes that ‘resonate powerfully today’ (The Guardian). Courage vs. Cowardice. Justice vs. Peace. Duty vs. Desire. At its heart is the bond between Will Kane (Billy Crudup) and Amy Fowler (Denise Gough) – a love tested by impossible choices. As the clock ticks down to the return of deadly outlaw Frank Miller on the high noon train, Will Kane must decide between leaving his job and the town that he once saved or leaving his new wife, Amy, in order to protect that town from being destroyed once again by Frank Miller.
Told in real time and set in the West in 1880, High Noon is a sharp, haunting stage adaptation of the legendary Western. Running 100 minutes with no interval, this edge-of-your-seat production features songs by Bruce Springsteen, The Chicks, and Ry Cooder.
The action begins with a celebratory wedding and ends in the inevitable confrontation, as the clock finally strikes High Noon. This isn’t just a play. It’s a wake-up call.
‘CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD WESTERN BACK WITH A BANG’ The Guardian
Tony and Emmy award-winner Billy Crudup (The Morning Show) and Olivier award-winner Denise Gough (People, Places and Things) are ‘formidable, sensational leads’ (Time Out) in the world premiere of High Noon.
From Oscar Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) and Olivier Award-winning director Thea Sharrock (Equus) comes High Noon, ‘a story about courage, conscience and what happens when the clock is ticking and no one shows up’ (Culture Magazine).
